Pismo
Pismo has always loved the beach. As a pup, he wandered the beach, snatching food from amid screeching seagulls. The worst day of his life was when he got trapped in the evil plastic rings that people threw on the beach when they were finished with their sodas. The more he struggled, the more tangled he became. A group of humans found him, threw Cheetos on him, and watched as the seagulls pecked all around him. Another human came to him, and gently took the evil rings off of him, then carried him away to a warm, dry place. Pismo loved this human who fed him bits of fish or jerky and gave him plenty of water to drink. He also loved his surfboard plushy. He slept on it every night, and thought it was the softest thing he’d ever felt. He would watch the stars from his surfboard as he fell asleep every night. His human had a real surfboard, and Pismo loved the tang of salty air over the ocean as he stood on his human’s back while paddling out to the waves. When a good one came, he balanced in between his human’s legs, feeling the breeze in his face, and watching the fish swim in the wall of water to the side. Life was good on the beach.
